Featured Wedding - Tonya and Charlie Gibson Print E-mail
Note: Tonya and Charlie Gibson were married on September 24th, 2005. This is their story in Tonya's own words...

"Charlie and I met a local restaurant in April 2002 and became good friends. A couple months later, we started dating.

We had become such good friends at the beginning, and then we both realized there was something more. I think we both knew, but it wasn’t till after I went out of town that we knew that we were in love. After I got back from the trip, we were together all the time!

Charlie is such a loving guy. His way of showing that is by picking on you all the time. When we first starting dating, it drove me crazy, but in time, that is what I found to love about him. In his way, he is showing you that he likes you. He always makes me laugh and smile. We are so different but we balance each other out. We are just not husband and wife but are best friends.

Charlie had been out of town for about a week so I was ready for him to get back. He came in on a Friday, November 16 and I was counting the time for when I got off work. I arrived at home and he was there. He told me he had a gift for me and handed a little white box. I opened it, not even paying attention to what the box said on it, and I found a note with instructions to go to the truck outside. So I went and found another box with another note and a watch. It told me to remain there for two minutes and then come knock on the door. Charlie claims that I didn’t remain there the whole two minutes but what do you expect, a girl was curious of what he bought me. I went and knocked on the door and to my surprise, there were roses and rose petals lined down the hallway. I walked down and turned the corner and there he was with some roses in his hand. He gave me such a wonderful speech and asked me to be his wife. I was so excited that I don’t think I said yes until minutes later. It was very unexpected, but a wonderful surprise to come home to!

My father was our minister and my mother was my matron of honor. Charlie’s dad was his best man with his two brothers. I had two close friends as my bridesmaids. We were also blessed with several other close friends help in many other ways.

I enjoyed working and planning with all of the vendors I used. Candleberry Inn was just a beautiful place to have a wedding. My Photographers were great and did a wonderful job catching it all. (click here to view photos) The DJ played everything that we wanted to hear and we loved every minute of the dancing. The florist was great. The flowers turned out just the way I wanted them to and better.

The highlight of the day, though, was walking down the stairs and catching my husband eyes and seeing the way he looked at me and knowing he felt the same way.

The only thing I do regret is not having the wedding and reception videotaped. I would love to be able to just sit and watch all the special moments and excitement that happened that day.

My only advice to brides is to enjoy it all. Try not to let the little things get to you because no matter what, you still are getting married to the one you love and that day is just so special. It will turn out great!"
