Anita and Stacy Lindsey were joined in marriage on April 29th, 2006, at Occasions At Wedgefield in Central, SC. Here is their Wedding Day story as told by Anita...
"Stacy and I met at Michelin in 1998 in Anderson, SC. Although we worked in the same plant, we never really knew each other, just a casual 'hello' in the hallway as we passed by. Then I moved to Lexington, SC at the end of 2000. In April of 2002, a mutual friend of ours arranged for a double date with him and his wife while I was in Greenville for a week of training. Although I had a horrible cold that day, I made enough of an impression that Stacy invited me to dinner again later that week. Since we lived 2 hours apart, we only got together about once a month for dinner and a movie, whenever I happened to be in Greenville for business. It wasn't until September that we really acknowledged we were an exclusive couple. The rest is history..." "Stacy is such a caring person. He is always trying to put me first and make sure that I am taken care of. He not only does this with me but with others around him. I think he would say the same about me. That’s what makes us so compatible." How did Stacy Propose?
"I had a business trip to Washington DC. Stacy and I had been talking for some time about visiting DC so it was the perfect opportunity.
Stacy met me in DC Friday night. He had made reservations at a really nice restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue. We had a wonderful dinner, seated at a table in the restaurant that overlooked the Navy Memorial fountain outside. After dinner, we walked around DC.
We ended up sitting on the steps of the Reflection Pool near the Capitol. Stacy was talking about how he couldn't believe it had been 3 years that we'd been dating. I laughed and said 'and you're not sick of me yet...' He said 'I'm so not sick of you that I want to spend the rest of my life with you' and then asked me to marry him.
I of course said yes, then saw the gorgeous ring he had chosen, and I cried.
The biggest obstacle we had was trying to live in the same city. We dated for 3 years while living 2 hours apart. We had to decide which one of us was going to move and arrange for a job transfer. Although the job transfer took longer than we would have liked, I moved to Greenville SC in July of 2005. It made the wedding planning much easier once we were in the same city.
The hardest part of planning our wedding was trying to stick to a budget. We wanted to have a beautiful wedding, but also wanted to enjoy our honeymoon. I think we did a good job of balancing everything.
Stacy’s uncle was our minister. Our friends and families were so helpful in the planning and execution of our wedding. We couldn’t have done it without them."
Any surprises on your wedding day?
"My dress was a bit too long! I think I may have lost a few pounds after the final fitting because it was just long enough for my shoes to catch it a few times walking down the aisle. My advice – if you think it may be a it too long at your final fitting, get it taken up a bit more!
The other surprise – the carrier pigeon that decided to join us on the dance floor during the reception. He didn’t cause any commotion and the kids loved him!"
How did you find most of your vendors?
"We found the wedding location vendors that we looked at online. Once we decided on Occasions at Wedgefield (whose package includes the DJ, caterer, and cake decorator), we asked their advice for photographers, florists, and ceremony musicians.
We are so happy with all aspects of our wedding day. Occasions at Wedgefield was the perfect site and Cynthia Phillips (the owner and our wedding coordinator) was such a blessing. She helped us with so many of the details.
Dennis and Yvette (Photography by Dennis and Yvette) did a wonderful job with our photos and video. We can’t wait to show them off to everyone! (Click HERE to view photos) Any advice for future brides?
"Don’t sweat the small stuff. People won’t remember what you had for favors or what your invitations looked like. The day is about you and your groom. Do what makes the two of you happy!"
